I have to admit I like the spring and spring has officially sprung in Greenville, SC. The weather has been mostly sunny and 70's all week. A huge leap from last Monday when I was almost freezing cause the heater conked out and the day was a high in the 50's and evenings were low in the 30's. Spring is often an inspiring time for me. So, today I had an epiphany. For the past 5 years I have been thinking about my work and my style and I now find myself inspired by the work of my late mentor Al Loving to create collages from cut up and torn up pieces. The inspiration slowly hit me after seeing a similar framed collage piece this week. It seems to make sense. Of course I can't do what Al did and I don't want to copy him , but I don't think he would mind some borrowing. All artists steal a little from each other. I've had a painting up on my wall for at least a year and it was going no where! Sometimes that happens with art. You start something you think will be great and it turns out to be a bad vacation. I didn't know how to fix it or complete it. It just sat on my wall. Now I feel so freed by the prospect of cutting it to pieces, destroying it and recycling it! Wee!!!!!!!

OFF TO A SLOW START....
It's been a while since I last blogged. may was not the best month for me. I had this awful sinus infection that effected my ear , made my head feel congested , and contributed to mysterious jaw and teeth pain. It was the worst! Thankfully after a couple of weeks on antibiotics, I'm feeling a lot better and can hopefully get back to art making whenever the weather is not so horrendously hot!. Living in the South without a powerful AC is not pleasant on 90+ degree days. But when the weather tops 90 and you also have high humidity thats when things get real nasty!!!!
